I literally just found out about a fantastic Halloween YA Event at FOYLES – there will be authors! An Angels vs. Demons debate! Prizes! Signed books! And copies of Ghost Town by Rachel Caine! I wish, wish, wish I was going – but since I can’t, you all should and then report back. At least then I can attend vicariously. ♥ Here are the details:
FOYLES Fear Fest – Demons Vs Angels: With Sarwat Chadda, Sam Enthoven, William Hussey, Cliff Mcnish and L.A Weatherly
Sunday 31 October 2pm
Celebrity chat show ghost ‘Jeremy Vile’ invites an audience of teen horror seekers to a special one-off Demons vs Angels themed debate with guest authors Sarwat Chadda, Sam Enthoven, William Hussey, Cliff Mcnish and L.A Weatherly.
Hosted in our very special literary graveyard, the event will be followed by a signing and creepy canapé reception.
With deluxe goody bags for all attendees and prizes to be won on the day. We will also have exclusive early release copies of Ghost Town by Rachel Caine, the Ninth Morganville Vampires book. Plus a chance to win an exclusive signed copies hamper, which will include books signed by Lauren Kate, Jenn Lynn Barnes, and the only UK signed copies of Becca Fitzpatrick’s Crescendo.
This event will be a lively chat show style debate, so come with your questions prepared!

Here are a few new book covers that you may or may not have seen about the blogosphere – loads seem to have just come out, but these are the ones I have been waiting for! Some aren’t that fantastic – actually, I’d say most are a bit bland – but what do y’all think?
Ultraviolet by R.J. Anderson – May 5th 2011 by Orchard Books
Forever by Maggie Stiefvater – July 12th 2011 by Scholastic Press
Bite Club by Rachel Caine – April 2011 by Signet
Defiance by Lili St. Crow – April 2011 by Penguin / Razorbill
Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder – UK Cover – January 1st 2011 by Mira Books

OMG there is a new cover for The Gathering! Apparently the UK publishers, in their infinite wisdom (and no, I am not being a smart ass this time), decided to revamp the cover for Kelley Armstrong’s first book in her new YA trilogy Darkness Rising. The US cover (which I flailed about here) was all well and good, but I think that this cover is just brilliant.

Isn’t it just lovely? I think there might be a revamp of this version before it comes out, but I am extremely excited nonetheless! Kelley Armstrong wrote about the new UK covers on her Darkest Powers blog, and kindly put up a very high quality version of the cover.
So… what do you think!?

God, I can’t believe it is August already! I seem to say that every month, but hey – I am always legitimately surprised by the date! Anyhow, the arrival of August has means some books we’ve all been longing for a soon to be released. Luckily, the books I have been longing for this month aren’t coming out towards the end of August. Why is this good? Because I still have catching up to do from July! My copy of Jealousy by Lili St. Crow only got here today and Linger is still in the post… *grumbles* Anyhow, even though I need the time – y’all can sit around waiting with bated breath.
So, here are a few YA Paranormal novels I am looking forward to. As usual, check out Tez Says for a list of August Releases, Fiendishly Bookish for a list of PNR/UF releases and LE for a general list of paranormal releases.
Paranormalcy by Kiersten White –

July is finally here, and I couldn’t be more excited. Considering I hate the heat – and GOD is July miserable – it takes an awful lot to make me look forward to the summer. But this warm month marks the release of a bunch of books I have been seriously lusting after. I mean, hello? Linger!
But besides Stiefvater’s werewolf-book-of-the-Gods, there are a bunch of other YA novels coming out this month that you should be excited about. There are a few more comprehensive lists out there, check out Tez Says for a list of July Releases, and Fiendishly Bookish for a list of PNR/UF releases.
Alas, these are US release dates. I’ve had trouble finding the UK dates for these – so let’s just be optimistic and assume they come out at the same time!
What books are you excited about? Got a list of your own? Tell me!

It’s June! Which means, besides the ludicrous heat and sticky hands on the tube, some of the books I’ve been lusting after are finally coming out. There are a few more comprehensive lists out there. Check out
Tez Says for a list of June Releases,
All Things Urban Fantasy for UF releases, and
Fiendishly Bookish for a list of PNR/UF releases. But these six books are the ones I will definetaly be getting my hands on. All of them are from new – or new to me – authors that I am curious about. Also, see the shift in YA themes? Some how YA paranormal is no longer content with silly old vampires – it’s moving underwater and into the woods!
