Today is the release date of THE MAGE IN BLACK by JAYE WELLS! *applauds* This is book two of the Sabina Kane trilogy that started with the Jaye’s awesome debut novel THE RED-HEADED STEPCHILD.
It is out today in the US (April 1st in the UK) – I would out searching the city for a copy this very moment if it weren’t for the fact I’m on holiday. *sighs*
So what is all the fuss about? Well, besides being an amazing writer, Jaye Wells has created what is probably the most kick-ass universe I have read in a looong while. The Red-Headed Stepchild is pure action-packed, no-frills urban fantasy – with a giant dollop of brilliant humour. Wells can make me scared and make me laugh – it’s insane. Seriously, I’d be jealous if I weren’t hooked on every word.
Read my fangirly review here! And while you’re at it, check out Jaye Wells’ lovely and lively blog. ♥
Red-Headed Stepchild by Jaye Wells
Summary: In a world where being of mixed blood is a major liability, Sabina doesn’t really fit in. And being an assassin – the only profession fit for an outcast – doesn’t help matters. But she’s never brought her work home. Until now.
Her latest mission is uncomfortably complex and threatens the fragile peace between vampire and mage races. As Sabina scrambles to figure out which side she’s on, she uncovers a tangled political web, some nasty facts about her family, and some unexpected new talents. Any of these things could be worryingly life changing, but together they could be fatal…
Sabina Kane: She’s down, but she’s not out.

I’ve just seen the cover art for the next-next (9th) Morganville Vampires book – and it is so gorgeous, I just had to share! GHOST TOWN by Rachel Caine is going to be released in Hardcover in the US on November 2nd, 2010 – which is so exciting as I have been longing for hardcover versions of this series for a while! I will have to order it from there!
The fragile peace between humans and vampires in Morganville is in trouble, and when Claire takes drastic action, she’s put under serious pressure to re-establish the barriers that keep the town residents inside, and wipe the memories of those who leave. But working with her half-crazy vampire boss Myrnin means that things don’t always turn out as planned … and as the people of Morganville begin acting strangely, Claire and her friends must solve the mystery and try to put things right. But one by one, her allies are turning on her … even the ones she trusts most.
*squee* I can’t wait to see what the UK publishers come up with!
ETA: Also, if you are a Rachel Caine fan living in the States, make sure to check out the Smart Chicks Kick It Tour – which features lots of AMAZING YA Paranormal authors who are visiting 12 US Cities in September. I wish they could add London to their list, but alas. Other authors on the tour include Kelley Armstrong, Melissa Marr, Alyson Noel, Holly Black, Cassandra Clare, Rachel Vincent, Sarah Rees Brennan, Becca Fitzpatrick, Melissa de la Cruz, Carrie Ryan and more! Check out their Facebook page for more details!

KELLEY ARMSTRONG LONDON SIGNING!
Forbidden Planet London Megastore
179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR
Tuesday 23 March 18:00 – 19:00
Kelley Armstrong will be signing Frostbitten at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR, on Tuesday 23rd March 6 – 7pm
After years of struggle, Elena Michaels – journalist, investigator, werewolf – has finally come to terms with her strange fate, and learned how to control her wild side. At least, that’s what she believes when she sets off to Alaska with her partner Clay. A series of gruesome maulings and murders outside Anchorage seem to implicate a rogue band of werewolves. But the truth is more complicated. Trapped in a frozen, unforgiving terrain, they are forced to confront a deadly secret, and their own, untamed nature…Gripping, intense and deeply satisfying, Frostbitten is a brilliant novel of suspense with a supernatural twist.
Kelley Armstrong lives in rural Ontario, Canada, with her family and far too many pets. She is the author of the bestselling Women of the Otherworld series, the highly acclaimed Darkest Power young adult series and two adventure novels about a hitwoman, EXIT STRATEGY and MADE TO BE BROKEN.
♥♥♥♥
Unfortunately, I can’t make this signing – grr – but I had to share the exciting news! I believe she will be signing the paperback copy of Frostbitten, which isn’t actually due out until May – but don’t quote me on that!

The covers for the seventh (!) House of Night book were released this week, and I just had to share. Considering how much I disliked both the UK and US covers of Tempted, this makes for a nice change!
UK / US
Burned: House of Night Series Book 7 by P.C. and Kristin Cast
To be Published: April 27th 2010 by ATOM
Seeing them side by side, I am not sure which I prefer. Probably the US one… but don’t hold me to that! Either way, both are much nicer than the previous book!
I am kinda surprised that they set the release date so soon for this book, even though the Casts only finished it on Monday! Seems a bit presumptuous… but I guess this series is popular enough for them to want to get them on overdrive.
On a personal note, I am kinda surprised that I actually have stuck through with this series – considering how I don’t actually like the writing all that much. But, well, I just want to find out how everything bloody well ends!

Yep, this is a pimp post!
The YA Rebels are an awesome groups of authors who are doing daily podcasts. Each has a day of the week, and so far their posts have been super funny, crazy informative, and just plain awesome. You can find them on their Youtube channel and on Twitter. I have a feeling they are going to become my new daily source of entertainment!
(thanks to the SciFiGuy for posting them to my attention!)
